A file of correspondence concerning relations between the U.K. and Albania. The correspondence concerns an enquiry by the Greek ambassador in Paris about any approach the Albanian government may have made to the U.K., following a newspaper article which claimed Albania may be seeking to re-establish diplomatic relations. Further correspondence covers the opinions of the Greek ambassador on the need for the West to respond to Albanian requests for assistance, over fears the country may fall back into the Soviet camp or be taken over by Yugoslavia. Further commentary covers British policy on Albania, arguing that diplomatic relations will not be resumed due to the failure of Albania to pay compensation following the Corfu Channel incident in 1946; and maintaining that there would be no question of economic aid, but that unofficial trade would be supported.
