A file containing a report by Cecil Parrott, the British ambassador to Czechoslovakia, on developments in Czechoslovakia during 1960. The report discusses how 1960 has largely been a satisfactory year for the Czechoslovak government, with the successful introduction of a new constitution occurring against "a backdrop of seemingly growing concord and prosperity". The report also covers Parrott's belief that Prague "is taking on more and more the appearance of a Western capital"; and how the Czechoslovak economy has continued "to expand satisfactorily" during 1960, with a marked increase in the availability of consumer goods for the Czechoslovak public. The report further comments on internal developments within the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia; the state of relations between Britain and Czechoslovakia; and how Czechoslovakia's international reputation is being "steadily extended", particularly in Africa and the Far East, with the Czechoslovak government now maintaining fifty-seven diplomatic missions abroad.
