A file of correspondence, reports, and press material concerning political developments in the Soviet Union. The documents contain a report produced by the British embassy in Moscow covering the thirteenth congress of the All-Union Leninist Young Communist League (Komsomol), which provided the opportunity for "sweeping changes in the leadership of the Komsomol"; and a summary of the British belief that Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet leader, is "obviously trying to convert the Komsomol into a mass organisation of practical, energetic youth formed after his own image". The documents also discuss the belief of the British embassy in Moscow that the Soviet government is strengthening its control of Soviet society; and Khrushchev's ascension to become the Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Soviet Union. Other documents include a copy of an article published in Kommunist commenting on how the theories of Karl Marx manifest themselves in the modern Soviet Union.
