A file of correspondence and reports concerning matters of the British legation in Romania. Documents in the file include reminders sent to the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs about outstanding "notes verbales" for which the British legation has yet to receive an answer. The notes concerned commercial relations, matters relating to the Treaty of Peace with Romania, property matters, shipping, personal cases, legal matters, and matters relating to British subjects. Further correspondence describes trips by staff members around Romania, including visits to Constan?a, Western Moldavia and Bukovina, and the Magyar Autonomous region; and commentary on living standards, roads, troops, agriculture, industry, church affairs, and police surveillance, following observations made during the trips. The file also describes the health services provided for embassy staff; and a mysterious collection of wooden crates, which had been left by the Portuguese legation following their departure from Romania in 1946.
