A file of correspondence, reports, and press extracts on Polish foreign trade. The file contains Polish official figures on its foreign trade in 1957, which showed that sixty per cent of Polish trade was with other countries within the Soviet bloc; that Poland's principal exports, coal and coke, had decreased in volume; and that Poland's exports had not increased as has been envisaged in the five-year plan. The file also contains a Treasury estimate of Poland's balance of payments with the sterling area; an interview with the deputy chairman of the Polish committee for economic cooperation with other countries; a report that the Polish government was worried about integration in Western Europe, as this may lead to the Soviet Union requiring greater conformity from members of the Warsaw Pact; and a letter announcing that Poland had ratified several trade and aviation conventions.
