A file of correspondence and press extracts on Anglo-Polish relations. The file discusses a visit from the City Council of Gdynia to Southampton; the Polish delegation's surprise at the high wages and high taxation in Britain; their envy at the respect accorded to British civic authorities; and an interview given by the delegation's leader on his return to Poland. The file also covers the formation of an Anglo-Polish Parliamentary Group, which had members from the Labour and Conservative Parties; and a proposal that a group of prominent Poles should be invited to the United Kingdom to discuss strategic matters such as the Oder-Neisse frontier between Poland and Germany. The Foreign Office discouraged the proposal, fearing that it would damage British relations with West Germany.
