A file of correspondence and Parliamentary Questions concerning the British legation in Budapest. The documents contain a draft of a question to be asked in the British Parliament regarding the refusal of the Hungarian authorities to accept the appointment of an honorary chaplain at the legation; and several letters discussing the Hungarian government's withdrawal of a visa for a British priest who had been hired to perform an Easter service at the legation. The documents also cover whether the British government should look to publicise the Hungarian government's refusal to allow British priests to visit the country; and the view of the Foreign Office that the Hungarian government is adopting a "more reasonable attitude". Other documents comment on the arrest of a Hungarian employee of the British legation, who was charged with supplying documents to István Bibó, a minister in the government that briefly ruled Hungary during the 1956 revolution.
