A file of correspondence on U.S.-Bulgarian relations. The file reports an approach from the Bulgarian government to the United States State Department to restore diplomatic relations between the two countries, which were broken off in 1950 after the American minister to Bulgaria was expelled; and the arrangements for negotiations in New York between the United States government and the Bulgarian representative at the United Nations. The file also includes a letter from the British legation in Sofia, expressing the hope that the Bulgarians will be forced to make concessions and treat Western diplomatic missions more reasonably; and a note from the British embassy in Washington stating that diplomatic relations were about to be restored.
