Subjects covered in the file include the economic plan for 1958 and an assessment on developments in the economy for 1957; amendments to the current five-year plan; and trends and theories with regard to the decentralisation of government, noting that party control is being increased through the of selection of members for administrative posts. Further correspondence discusses the role of the Ministry of State Control in Czechoslovakia; a new bill to expand the role of the State Bank in controlling the country's economy; the decline of private businesses; and new regulations on the sale of motor cars to the public.
