Northern (N): Poland (NP). Commercial Relations between Poland and India

1957

A file of correspondence on a shipping agreement between Poland and India. The file contains a protest from the British to the Polish government against one of the provisions in the agreement, which the British Ministry of Transport interpreted as discriminating against vessels sailing under the British flag. The file reports that the Commonwealth Relations Office had not lodged a similar protest with the Indian government, as the Indians were already aware of British views on the matter. A reply from the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the agreement did not prevent Polish contractors from using British ships, and that Poland would not violate any previous agreements.
