A file of correspondence and reports concerning the military aspects of the recent Hungarian Uprising. The report compiled by the military attaché comments on the failings of the Hungarian Army as a fighting force, with many individuals choosing to fight for the Nationalists. Subjects raised in the report include the stationing of Soviet troops in key areas before the start of the uprising; the extensive fighting which took place throughout the streets of Budapest; the extent of casualties; the campaign against the State Protection Authority, the Államvédelmi Hatóság (A.V.H.); the withdrawal of Soviet troops; the re-opening of hostilities; and their dissolution into passive and political resistance.
