A file of correspondence and press material concerning economic relations between West Germany and Hungary. The documents discuss the view of the West German Ministry of Economics that no West German loans for Hungary are being considered or discussed; and the signature of a trade deal between the West German and Hungarian governments for the final six months of 1957. The documents also contain a series of lists of goods to be traded between West Germany and Hungary under the new trade deal. Other documents include a B.B.C. report stating that the Hungarian government will allow ethnic Germans currently in the country, including former prisoners of war transferred to Hungary from the Soviet Union, to return to West Germany.
