The correspondence discusses the economic aspects of recent agreements signed between the two countries relating to the granting of long-term credit on favourable conditions; the provision of freely convertible currency which can be used for purchases abroad; and a substantial increase in the volume of goods to be traded. Further discussions include the reduction of maintenance costs imposed on East Germany for the stationing of Soviet forces; and the provision of Soviet designs, technical aid, material and equipment for the construction of a nuclear power plant.
