A file of correspondence concerning Soviet international relations. The documents discuss an expansion of the commercial staff at the Soviet embassy in New Delhi; and an attempt by the Canadian government to prevent the Soviet embassy in Ottawa from adding any more staff, through informing the Soviet ambassador to Canada that "any further growth of the Soviet Mission would lead to public controversy". The documents also comment on the worldwide screening of a Soviet documentary film covering a recent visit to India by a delegation of Soviet politicians led by Nikita Khrushchev, the Soviet leader; the Foreign Office's view that any invitation issued to a senior British diplomatic official to watch a screening of the film should be rejected; and several accounts of screenings of the Soviet film, including one in Iceland that was "almost empty". Other documents cover the opening of a Soviet consulate in the Belgian Congo.
