A file of correspondence, reports and memoranda concerning the organisation of multilateral talks regarding the maintenance of the Berlin air corridor. The documents discuss a number of Soviet violations of West German air space; the initial Soviet proposal to make alterations to the corridor following four-party talks on the subject; the report on a three-party talk held to discuss the Soviet proposal; and the recognition that further revisions should be required to avoid any potential diplomatic incidents in the aftermath of the Soviet shooting down of a Lincoln bomber, that the Soviets alleged had strayed out of the corridor. Other documents comment on the "Lincoln bomber incident" and how to handle the Soviet response; the subsequent decision to accept the Soviet proposal, after minor revisions were agreed upon by the Americans and French; and the awards to be made to the families of the Lincoln bomber crew.
